Remembering Roger Scruton
Professor Sir Roger Scruton died on 12 January 2020. Scruton was a supervisor and later a colleague of all three organisers of the Humane Philosophy Society and many times contributed to the Humane Philosophy Project including delivering the final address at its inaugural event in 2013. Perhaps the most famous English philosopher outside of the academy since Bertrand Russell, Professor Scruton's death has been met with a large number of public testimonials across the globe. His contribution to philosophy will continue to influence the discipline far into the future and he will be keenly missed by his former students to whom his generosity, kindness and support were extraordinary. An obituary by Samuel Hughes, an organiser of the HPS can be read here.
